Choosing a vanilla server in 2026
x1 vs x3 vs x5: what rates really change
Short answer
Rates multiply how fast you earn experience, and sometimes loot or reputation. At x1 you level at the original pace and see most zones and dungeons; at x3 or x5 you reach 60 much sooner but skip content and join a smaller mid-level community. Keldurn uses x1 for experience, loot, gold and reputation.
Key facts
| x1 | Original pace; the full levelling journey |
|---|---|
| x3 | About three times the experience per kill and quest |
| x5 and above | Fast to 60, many zones skipped |
| Economy | Higher loot rates usually mean cheaper items |
| Keldurn | x1 experience, loot, gold and reputation |
Why x1 keeps a realm alive
At x1 players spread across every level range for weeks, so there are groups for every dungeon, not only at 60. Gathered materials keep their value because they take time to collect.
The trade-off is time: reaching 60 at x1 is a journey measured in weeks for most players.
When higher rates make sense
If you only care about endgame raiding and have played the levelling many times, a faster realm gets you there sooner. Expect fewer players in the middle levels and a faster, more volatile economy.
Keldurn chose x1 to keep the original journey and the social levelling that comes with it.
Rates are more than experience
A server can change experience, loot, gold and reputation rates separately. A realm with x1 experience but high loot rates, for example, has a very different economy from one that keeps everything at x1.
Read the rates page for each value before you decide. Keldurn keeps experience, loot, gold and reputation at x1.
Questions players ask
Does x1 mean no events or bonuses ever?
Base rates are x1. A realm may run limited events, which are announced in advance.
Are quest rewards also multiplied?
On Keldurn quest experience follows x1, like kills and exploration.
