A realm that grows with its players

ChromieCraft started with the level cap and content of vanilla and has unlocked each stage in order: The Burning Crusade, then Wrath of the Lich King. Characters are never wiped between stages, so a character created in the vanilla phase is the same one now raiding Ulduar, which opened with Arena Season 6 on 9 September 2026.

The realm also serves as a public test bed for AzerothCore, the open-source emulator many other Wrath servers use. Bugs found by players are fixed in the open code, which benefits the wider community.

Rules and quality of life

Experience runs at x2 by default and each player can lower it to x1. Some modern conveniences are present, such as cross-faction play in places and optional Challenge Modes for dungeons. Being a non-profit, ChromieCraft does not sell gameplay advantages.

You play with the 3.3.5a client even in the early stages, so the interface is the Wrath one throughout.

How to start on ChromieCraft

  • Create an account on chromiecraft.com
  • Install the 3.3.5a client and set the realmlist from the site
  • Decide whether to keep x2 or lower your own rate to x1
  • Follow the community channels to hear about the next unlock

Because there are no wipes, the time you put in now carries into every future stage.

Compared with Keldurn

ChromieCraft suits patient players who want one character to live through three expansions. Keldurn stays in vanilla 1.12 for good, at x1, and runs in a browser or on a phone, so it suits players who want the original world as it was rather than a stage on the way to Northrend.

Questions players ask

Will ChromieCraft wipe characters when it changes expansion?

No. Progression happens without wipes; characters carry over each stage.

Can I level at x1 on ChromieCraft?

Yes. The default is x2, and each player can lower it to x1.
