Choosing a vanilla server in 2026
Is a free vanilla server safe?
Short answer
A free server can be safe if you follow a few rules: use a unique password, download software only from the official site, never pay upfront to play and never share a Battle.net login. Keldurn needs no download for browser play, never asks for Battle.net credentials and verifies email sign-ups. The Windows client comes only from the official site.
Key facts
| Password | Unique to each server |
|---|---|
| Downloads | Only from the official website |
| Payments | Never required to play |
| Battle.net | Never share it with any server |
| Keldurn | Browser play needs no download; email is verified |
Downloads and clients
Game clients from unofficial mirrors are the most common way malware spreads in gaming communities. Download only from the server's own website, linked from its official pages.
Browser play avoids the download step entirely: on Keldurn you create an account and play in a compatible browser.
Accounts and personal data
A server needs an email address to recover your account, not your real name or payment card. Read its privacy page and prefer sign-in options you trust.
Keldurn offers email sign-up with verification or Continue with Google, and never asks for your Battle.net login.
Warning signs on a sign-up page
Close the tab if a sign-up page does any of the following:
- Asks for a payment card before you can play.
- Asks for your Battle.net or another server's login.
- Has no privacy page or contact details.
- Forces a download before telling you what the server is.
A legitimate free server tells you what it is, that playing costs nothing and what its optional shop sells, before it asks you for anything.
Questions players ask
