WoW in a browser
Can you play WoW directly in a browser?
Official World of Warcraft still uses Blizzard's desktop ecosystem. Keldurn takes a different route: an independent 1.12.1-compatible client that runs inside a compatible browser.
The short answer
You cannot launch Blizzard's official World of Warcraft client as a normal browser game. You can play Keldurn in a browser: it is an independent realm and client built for the classic 1.12.1 protocol and gameplay era.
This is not remote video streaming: the game runs in your own browser, while characters and the world live on the Keldurn realm.
What matters before you start
- The browser renders the game locally instead of receiving a cloud-gaming video feed.
- A verified Keldurn account leads into character selection and the persistent realm.
- Keldurn does not claim to be an official Blizzard product.
Browser client versus cloud streaming
Cloud gaming runs a Windows game on somebody else's computer and sends compressed video to the browser. Keldurn sends its web client and authorized game data to the browser, which performs rendering locally. That avoids a video-stream subscription and keeps visual quality independent of streaming bitrate.
Local rendering still needs a capable browser and device. Network latency continues to matter for the realm connection, but it is not compounded by encoding every frame as a remote video.
What happens after you create an account
Keldurn verifies the account, creates private game credentials behind the scenes and takes managed sessions to the character roster. The internal credentials are never presented as a second password the player must manage.
On the first visit, loading takes longer while the game gets ready. Later visits start faster because the browser keeps what it already downloaded.
Check your browser
This check tests access to WebGPU. A playable session also depends on memory, controls and connection.
